Townsend Nurseries

Fabric First Architects were appointed in 2024 to work up detailed proposals for twenty dwellings with outline planning consent, including 6 affordable homes, on land at Townsend Nursery. We have retained the previous, illustrative concept of detached and terraced dwellings. Through engagement with the Local Planning Authority we developed proposals to address areas of the scheme with outline consent that were contary to planning policy and current design guidance.

The design includes three types of bungalows and seven types of houses, providing a variety of accommodations and a rich, cohesive mix of styles across the site. High-quality traditional design elements, proportions, and detailing will be employed to create a sympathetic character throughout the streetscape, drawing inspiration from some of the well-crafted traditional houses in the local area.
